Auctioneers gathered January 19-22 for the Michigan State Auctioneers Association Annual Conference. Testing their talent in the Michigan Auctioneer Championship were 13 Men and Women Auctioneers. Contestants compete in a bid calling and interview portion to test their knowledge of the auction business. At the end of the night, Beth Rose of Maumee, Ohio was the first woman in competition history crowned the 2009 Michigan Auctioneer Champion. Rose will represent Michigan in the International Auctioneer Championships in Kansas City, Kansas in July 2009.
Being the first woman to win the coveted award, Rose says, serves to underline the hard work and dedication, you have to have in the auction business as a woman. Winning the State Championships continues to underline her success and joy, Rose stating, “Auctioneers are some of the greatest people! We are so fortunate to be in a business that is fun. Auctioneers are some of the hardest working people. The Michigan State Auctioneers Association cares about the profession and offers incredible educational programs and tools to help existing auctioneers and new auctioneers in the business. The friendships, networking and resources are invaluable.”
Beth Rose is a licensed Realtor in both Ohio and Michigan, specializing in Real Estate auctions and business liquidations. She graduated from the American School of Auctioneering and has won numerous marketing awards both at National and State Levels. Rose received in 1999 from the Certified Auctioneers Institute the Rose Award that was given to recognize the best auction summary report and excellence. Rose has been recognized from the Ohio Association of Realtors with the Pinnacle of Performance Award, Award of Excellence and Award of Distinction for many years. Beth is recognized as a seminar presenter to top Real Estate Companies educating realtors on the auction method of marketing to help increase sales.
Recently, Rose was endorsed by the BIA (Building Industry Association) in 2008 for helping builders in tough economic times through the auction method.
Over 35 years ago her father David Rose saw a vision of what auctions could do for the general public. He began to build a foundation, a foundation that Beth and her 3 younger sisters to this very day continue to build upon with Beth’s daughter Sara Rose following close behind as a third generation auctioneer. As Rose often thinks outside of the box, her business has continued to grow and evolve with new technologies and challenges that face us today. Her primary goal continues to be the success of both the buyer and seller. By being the first woman to win the 2009 Michigan State Auctioneers Championship, Rose looks forward to working hard to represent Michigan in the International Auctioneer Championships.
